What this tool checks

This tool checks whether your site uses correct redirect types and patterns. It detects HTTP to HTTPS redirects, www to non-www (or vice versa) redirects, and evaluates whether redirects are properly configured. It checks for redirect chains (A→B→C→D) that waste crawl budget, temporary 302 redirects used where a permanent 301 should be, and whether your canonical URL matches where you actually redirect.

Why it matters

Every redirect costs a small amount of link equity and crawl budget. A redirect chain — where page A redirects to B which redirects to C — compounds this loss with each hop. Many sites end up with redirect chains after multiple CMS migrations or URL restructures. Incorrect 302 (temporary) redirects also prevent PageRank from flowing correctly.

Common issues we find

• No HTTPS redirect: HTTP version of the site accessible without redirecting to HTTPS
• www and non-www versions both accessible without a canonical redirect
• Redirect chains of 3+ hops accumulated from multiple site migrations
• Using 302 temporary redirects for permanent URL changes, not passing link equity
• Redirect loop: URL A redirects to URL B which redirects back to A
